Greer Grammer has been selected to be Miss Golden Globe 2015 for the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, it was announced Thursday by Theo Kingma, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The 22-year-old daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer and makeup artist Barrie Buckner is, like her father, an actor. She currently stars in the series Awkward on MTV, and appears in the indie film Life Partners, along with Gabourey Sidibe and Adam Brody.
“She’s following in her father’s footsteps in becoming a standout actress,” said Kingma, “and we can’t wait to see what she does next.”
As Miss Golden Globe, she will be seen assisting with delivering trophies and getting presenters and honorees on and off the stage, among other duties.

Grammer follows in the footsteps of half a century of previous Miss Golden Globes (and in some recent years, Mr. Golden Globes as well). Last year’s Miss Golden Globe was Sosie Bacon (daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick), and in 2013 the honor went to Francesca Eastwood, daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher.
Kingma said that each year the president gets to pick Miss and/or Mr. Golden Globe, after consulting with other HFPA members. They traditionally seek out someone who is the child of a past Golden Globe winner, and usually someone who is pursuing a career in show business.
Greer Grammer’s other recent credits include the indie film An Evergreen Christmas with Naomi Judd, and an upcoming episode of the series Melissa & Joey on ABC Family.
She was named after actress Greer Garson and was raised primarily by her mother in Malibu, where in 2008 she won the title of Miss Teen Malibu. She graduated from the University of Southern California in June as a theater major.
Other past Miss and Mr. Golden Globes include Sam Fox (son of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan), Rumer Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis), Laura Dern (daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern), Joely Fisher (daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher), Melanie Griffith (daughter of Tippi Hedren), Mavis Spencer (daughter of Alfre Woodard and Roderick Spencer) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (son of the late Freddie Prinze).
“I am flattered to have been chosen by the HFPA for this year’s Miss Golden Globe,” said Grammer. “It’s truly an honor to be included in this experience that so many incredible men and women have been a part of.”
The Golden Globe Awards air Jan. 11, 2015, on NBC as well as around the world. In January 2014, the show was seen in the U.S. by almost 21 million viewers.
Grammer is represented by talent agency APA and manager Delany Andrews at Strategic Talent.
