ISLAMABAD: At least eight people were killed and several others injured when a bus plunged into a deep ravine in Kahuta’s suburban area of Punjar on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the bus was carrying at least 50 people and the accident occurred due to over speeding.

However, the eye-witnesses said that the accident took place due to failure of the brakes and overloading of the passengers.

The bus was on route to Kahuta from the city of Rawalpindi. The injured and bodies were being shifted to Kahuta Tehsil Hospital.

Soon after the incident the locals along with rescue teams started the rescue efforts to shift the dead bodies and injured to hospital.
