The curtain is being pulled back on Interstellar, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive roundtable featuring director Christopher Nolan and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.
The revealing roundtable, which is also this week’s Hollywood Reporter cover story, sheds new light on the ultra-secret project, with the cast and Nolan recounting production details such as a costume malfunction that nearly gave Hathaway hypothermia, the mind-bending scientific concepts that were tossed around on set and the real-life disaster scenarios facing Earth that were incorporated into the plot.
The roundtable, titled The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: Interstellar, will air on PBS SoCal at 7 p.m. Nov. 1; on WNET, which serves the New York tristate area, at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and in additional markets (check your local listings), with the full video debuting on THR.com on Oct. 29. Interstellar hits theaters on Nov. 7 with advance screenings starting on Nov. 5.

“Interstellar is already one of the most buzzed-about films of the year, and it is an honor to include the incredibly talented cast and director as part of our awards-season roundtables,” says Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group. “By once again partnering with PBS SoCal we hope to bring this incredible story told from the perspective of the cast and director straight to their fans.”

The Interstellar roundtable, moderated by The Hollywood Reporter‘s executive features editor Stephen Galloway, is just the latest foray into television for THR. In December 2013, THR partnered with PBS SoCal to air its Oscar-contender roundtables over the holidays. PBS also aired The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: The Wolf of Wall Street, featuring Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and writer Terence Winter. The intimate conversation earned PBS SoCal and Min, Galloway and THR photo and video director Jennifer Laski an Emmy Award at the 66th annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards.
THR has also partnered with A&E to produce The Hollywood Reporter Roundtables. The first edition featured four Emmy-contender roundtables this June. THR‘s Oscar-contender roundtables are set to air on A&E during awards season.
