The ideal candidate will be a technology generalist and have expertise in a number of areas, from data-driven development to devops to front-end. Our ideal candidate will have expert level knowledge of:
- PHP, including modern OO patterns and frameworks
- Front-end development including HTML5, Javascript, and CSS3
- WordPress theme and plugin architecture
Intermediate level knowledge of:
- Linux server setup, log analysis, and debugging
- MySQL and/or generic SQL—you should understand how tables in the database relate to output on a website
- Devops—you should be familiar with deployment and infrastructure management frameworks
And score bonus points for:
- Chef, Puppet, or Ansible expertise
- Build tools and asset pipeline (Grunt, Gulp, etc.)
- PHP dependency management tools
- Expertise with other languages: Perl, Node, Ruby, Python, etc.
- Test framework expertise and how to apply to existing environments
Job responsibilities will include:
- Help to build and maintain a very large WordPress instance, supporting millions of users
- Provide guidance and technical support to our user base
- Support ad sales initiatives
- General IT support for staff (e-mail, etc.)
