The Sun Belt tournament will now begin on Thursday and feature a single-elimination format, it was announced Wednesday.
Heavy rains in Statesboro, Ga., forced the cancellation of games Tuesday. A revised double-elimination schedule was briefly formulated, but that was scrapped after rain again washed away Wednesday's games.
The tournament will begin with two games Thursday, then four Friday and two Saturday before Sunday's championship game. South Alabama and Troy meet in Friday's early game at 8 a.m. Central at S.I. Clements Stadium on the campus of Georgia Southern.
According to a statement by the Sun Belt Conference office, the single-elimination format was the only viable option remaining. The statement read as follows:
"Considering field conditions, the amount of rainfall over the past few days and forecasted into the overnight hours, it was determined that the single elimination format was the only option that provided the best opportunity for the tournament to be fully completed and decided on the field."

Game 1: No. 10 Georgia State vs. No. 7 Arkansas State, 2 p.m.
Game 2: No. 9 Little Rock vs. No. 8 Texas State, 5:30 p.m.
Friday
Game 3: No. 6 Troy vs. No. 3 South Alabama, 8 a.m.
Game 4: No. 2 Texas-Arlington vs. Higher-seeded first-round winner, 11:30 a.m.
Game 5: No. 1 Coastal Carolina vs. Lower-seeded first-round winner, 3 p.m.
Game 6: No. 5 Georgia Southern vs. No. 4 Louisiana-Lafayette, 6:30 p.m.
Saturday
Game 7: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 2 p.m.
Game 8: Game 5 winner vs. Game 6 winner, 5:30 p.m.
Sunday
Championship: Game 7 winner vs. Game 8 winner, noon
