This is Felix and here he is squashed in a drain pipe.

The kitty fell into the pipe in Grafrath, Germany and ended up stuck underground.

A bunch of dogs sniffed around above the pipe but basically ignored Felix (nice job, guys).

Fortunately, though, one pooch stopped at the site, smelled the scent of cat and started whimpering.

The dog’s owner spotted the kitty and immediately called the local fire brigade, who rushed to find Felix peeking up at them.

One firefighter squeezed in to coax Felix out, and it’s clear he doesn’t live with cats because then the inevitable happened.

Thoroughly spooked by the sight of a stranger (!) advancing towards him (!!), Felix retreated further away and ended up in an even smaller pipe.

‘Nothing we did could shift him,’ Marcel Wurm, Felix’s rescuer, said. ‘Then we came up with a trick. We used a chimney sweep brush to literally brush him out.’

If that sounds a bit weird and painful, don’t worry – apparently it was nice and smooth.

Luckily Felix was in good health when he was rescued.

As soon as he was free he bounded away into the trees.
