The Queen’s favourite ten songs were actually revealed last year, after it was claimed that she had disclosed her love of ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ at an exclusive Windsor Castle banquet.

BBC DJ Chris Evans made the claim in 2008 as he recounted how a friend had been invited to the posh dinner.
After guests had eaten dinner and speeches were completed, a dance was reportedly held for guests, where a DJ played “proper disco music”, with the Queen expressing her love of ABBA.
But while the story resurfaced last week, the Queen actually revealed her top 10 tracks last year as part of her 90th birthday celebrations – and there is no mention of ABBA. Instead, it’s a list featuring vintage showtunes from Oklahoma, Fred Astaire, and even a song from Gary Barlow.
Here’s the whole list.
- Howard Keel – ‘Oklahoma!’
- Dolores Gray and Bill Johnson – ‘Anything You Can Do (Annie Get Your Gun)’
- Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band featuring the Military Wives – ‘Sing’
- Fred Astaire – ‘Cheek to Cheek’
- Vera Lynn – ‘The White Cliffs Of Dover’
- George Formby – ‘Leaning on a Lamp-post’
- Praise, My Soul, The King Of Heaven (hymn)
- The Lord is My Shepherd (hymn)
- Lester Lanin Medley
- Regimental March Milanoll
But while there’s no mention of ABBA, it seems that the monarch is still definitely a Dancing Queen, or at least according to her cousin.
Speaking at the time of the list’s release last year, Lady Elizabeth Anson said: “These were the tunes that remained in one’s head and were very danceable to. The Queen is a fantastic dancer. She’s got great rhythm.”
