WELLINGTON, Ohio -- The 39th Annual Ohio Scottish Games were held here Saturday at the Lorain County Fairgrounds, presented by the Scottish American Cultural Society of Ohio to preserve and promote Scottish heritage and ancestry.
Sheath tossing, caber tossing (commonly known as the "telephone pole toss"), the Kilted Mile run and the Weight for Distance toss were among the distinctive events of the festival, which also featured concerts, bagpipe competitions, competitions with fiddles, harps and drums, storytelling and traditional Highland dance.
The Parade of the Clans, with the wearing of tartan, celebrated Scottish heritage.
