While Sheen tells the mag that he's been speaking with WBTV, a rep for the studio denied the report to THR, and furthermore, CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler told reporters at the TCA Press Tour in July that there are no talks with Sheen about his return to the series.
Why would WBTV be so hesitant to bring back Sheen? The actor made negative remarks about producer Chuck Lorre (also creator of The Big Bang Theory), and proceeded to sue Lorre, CBS and WBTV.
Sheen offered somewhat of an apology to Lorre on Twitter last November, saying he had an idea "that u need to hear after I make amends to you and yours." It may be worth noting that Lorre isn't on Twitter.
The Machete Kills actor told the mag that he and Lorre have yet to make up, but all it'll take are "Just a couple of hugs and a couple of high-fives and see you guys on a Friday night, let's do this in front of an audience." He calls Lorre a "genius" and insists that the creator was just doing his job. While he'd love to return to the series, Sheen says that "it's about time" the show end.
Currently starring on FX's Anger Management, Sheen has completed 87 episodes of the series, which was given an initial 100-episode contract. It's uncertain if the series will continue, but according to Sheen, "We're almost 10 from the finish line and that checker flag." He touts the show as having "an amazing run," ensuring that if it continues "I'm available."
