It will be a sunny start to spring before a change slides in.
Saskatoon forecast
Wednesday
The final morning of winter started with wind chills down to -9 as the mercury dipped to -4 to kick off the day.
Beautiful sunny skies stuck around all morning as the mercury climbed up to +5 heading into the noon hour.
The sunshine lasts right into the beginning of spring, which begins at 3:58 p.m. CST, just as the afternoon high around 8 C is being reached.
Wednesday night
Clear skies linger into Wednesday night as temperatures slide back down to around -4 or so overnight.
Thursday
-9 is what it’ll feel like with wind chill as you’re heading out the door on the first morning of spring under sunny skies.
Sensational sunshine will continue to melt the 26 centimetres of snow that is still on the ground during the day as an upper ridge of high pressure helps usher in 7 degrees of heat by mid-afternoon.
Friday
The high-pressure ridge locks in the heat and sunshine
As such, another sunny day is on tap with an afternoon high hopping up to around 9 C.
Weekend outlook
A low pressure system pushing up from the south coupled with a cold front sliding in from the north will bring back the clouds on Saturday with a chance of late day showers before changing to a risk of snow on Sunday.
Daytime highs will slump through the weekend from around 6 or 7 degrees on Saturday to just above the freezing mark as gusty northerly winds kick in on Sunday.
