Google Translate Brings Real-Time Text Translation to Your Phone

iOS/Android: Last year, Google bought Word Lens, the amazing app that translates signs in real time, and made it free for everyone. Now the company has gone one better and rolled the feature into Google Translate.

As you can see in the GIF above, the feature works just like it did in the Word Lens app. Simply tap the camera button, point your camera at the sign you want to translate, and the translated words will appear in their place. This new update also makes the voice translation feature easier. You only have to tap the microphone once and from then on, Google Translate will automatically detect which (supported) language you're speaking in, translate your message into the other, and speak it aloud. The only thing left to do is turn it into a fish and put it in your ear.
