Nick Jonas Saved Carrie Underwood's Life: 'You're Welcome World'

Nick Jonas may not have been dressed like a superhero when he strutted onto the American Music Awards red carpet on Sunday night donning a "Hotline Bling"-inspired turtleneck sweater, but by the end of the show, he sure felt like one. The JoBro ended up saving Carrie Underwood's life, if you believe his account.

Two days after the awards show, he retold the dramatic story of a ball that put Carrie within an inch of her life -- with the same flair that you'd expect from the macho actor.

"We almost lost one of the good ones last night at the AMAs," Jonas told his fans on Instagram, posting a photo of this giant ball thingy. Surely, he didn't want it to smack Underwood, who won Favorite Female Artist - Country that night, in the face.

"During Coldplay's performance these giant light up balls were thrown in the audience," he wrote. "The one in my hands was heroically snatched out of the air by yours truly just before it had the chance to hit the lovely Carrie Underwood in the head. You're welcome Carrie. You're welcome world. #longlivecarrie #countrymusiclives #urwelcome."

Thank you, Nick. Wow. What a hero. And a great storyteller too.

Here's Coldplay's performance, where the evil balls originated, just for reference:
