Pub known for its scantily clad employees set to open on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery -- a popular restaurant/bar franchise known for its scantily clad 'kilt girls' -- will open next month in Charleston's Bricktown Commons.

Operating under the slogan "A cold beer never looked so good," the closest Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery to Staten Island is in East Brunswick, N.J., said Amol Kohli, president of AARK Enterprises Inc. and a licensed developer and franchisee of Friendly's Ice Cream and Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery.

"I wanted to expand into the boroughs, and, logistically, Staten Island made the most sense for us," said Kohli.

"I think we are going to be a nice fit over there. We offer a huge sports atmosphere," he added.

The 5,700-square-foot restaurant will include about 46 big screen televisions and seating for 180 people, Kohli said.

HIRING PROCESS

Seeking to hire a staff of about 60 people, Kohli said he's hiring servers, bar tenders and other wait staff, as well as for management positions. However, the hiring process for some positions require an audition, whereby potential employees participate in a

According to the company's website, the hiring process puts an emphasis on candidates' enthusiasm, personal appearance and personality.

And there are kilt guys too.

"Kilt guys are hot too," says the company's website. "Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery Guys know how to work the bar and take care of the girls whether they are bartending, barbacking or bussing."

The franchise has been called an updated version of Hooters restaurant.

"Some people like to compare us to Hooters, but the only way you can compare us to Hooters is the focus on an entertainment staff," he said.

"In this concept ,your entertainers come sit and hang out with you, and chat with you. It's really to build an experience with the customer," added Kohli.

MENU

Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery carries more than 18 craft beers, along with a hearty menu packed with burgers, wings and many freshly made comfort foods.

"Everything we serve is made here in the back of the house," said Kohli.

"It's three or four hours of prep time to make our ribs. And our wings are all fresh; they are 'bar none' to any other concept. We offer grilled, traditional and boneless wings," he added.
