"It was a vicious and senseless attack. Our prayers are for the victims and their families. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends across the communities in condemning this attack."

The suicide attack carried out by SalmaN Abedi at the Manchester Arena on Monday night claimed the lives of 22 people and injured many more.

Mr Ali said that the killer should not be considered a man of faith.

He added: "The killer does not represent any faith. This was a criminal act which we completely reject."
