TOLEDO, OHIO - If you're hunting for wins, you might as well dress like a bounty hunter.
That's what the Toledo Mud Hens are doing, at least. The Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers revealed its annual "Star Wars Night" uniforms on Monday, April 10 and they're awesome.
The uniforms, which the team will wear during its May 27 game against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, are inspired by Boba Fett. Introduced in the 1980 film "The Empire Strikes Back," the character is a bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to track down Han Solo.
While his overall screen time is small, the character is among the most popular in the Star Wars universe and has developed a cult following through the years.A standalone film starring Boba Fett is purportedly in the works.
The colorful, grey-and green-uniforms are modeled after Fett's iconic, jet pack-equipped, armored suit. Presented by NSG Group/Pilkington, the jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
Fans can bid on the game-worn Star Wars Night jerseys during a silent auction. Tables will be located on the main concourse and bids will be accepted through the end of the sixth inning. Proceeds will benefit March of Dimes and Helping Hens Charities.
A Star Wars dinner is also being offered prior to the game. It includes an all-you-can-eat buffet, a Star Wars themed photo booth, Star Wars trivia for a chance to win great prizes, face painters and more.
The all-inclusive package is $30 for adults and $24 for children 12 and under. If you already have a game ticket for May 27, add the dinner experience for $18 for adults and $12 for children.
