The time-old cliché about meddling mother-in-laws seems to hold true for one Mumsnet user after she took to the parenting to website to vent.

It seems that the anonymous user's mother-in-law decided to cut her young daughter's long hair –without asking permission first.

And the mum in question could barely contain her anger about it, The Sun reports...

In the now-viral post, she describes herself as feeling 'beyond angry' at her mother-in-law's decision, which has left her six-year-old daughter with short locks.

'It's gone from being long, blonde, beautiful waves to a shoulder length bob,' she explains.

Revealing that the unexpected haircut took place while her child was staying with her former partner, the user wrote: 'DC [dear child] spent the weekend with their dad and I collected them from school yesterday.

'On Thursday when mil [mother-in-law] was looking after dd [dear daughter], mil took it upon herself to cut all dd's hair off. And give her a fringe!!!'

Other Mumsnet users were equally outraged at the mother-in-law's behaviour, with one commenting, 'Should have asked you first!!! Can't believe someone would do that without asking even if DD [dear daughter] insisted.'

However, other users urged her to try and let go of her fury about the incident, with one advising: 'I would be fuming but nothing I could do. It's done, the hair will grow back and I would tell them never to do it again.'

How would you feel if your mother-in-law did this? Let us know on Facebook...
