Law professors band together to get Kellyanne Conway disbarred

While Kellyanne Conway was busy putting her feet up in the Oval Office, the dean of Drexel University’s law school has been organizing an effort to get her disbarred, PhillyVoice reports. Professor and associate dean Susan L. Brooks says she and 14 other law professors are seeking sanctions by the D.C. Bar against Conway for lying through her teeth, then lying some more. Of course, they’ve used legalese like “conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation” in their ethics complaints, which will be filed in D.C. and Conway’s home state of New Jersey. The letter cites such classic Conway cons as the non-existent Bowling Green Massacre, her “alternative facts,” and a “false statement that President Barack Obama had ‘banned’ Iraqi refugees from coming into the United States for six months.”

The professors recognize this is an extraordinary step to take, but they believe that these desperate, fact-deprived times call for such measures, and that Conway is “currently acting in a way that brings shame upon the legal profession.” But Professor John F. Banzhaf III of George Washington University, Conway’s former law school, thinks they’re pushing their luck: “[T]he very filing of this complaint upon such specious grounds could open the law professors themselves up to the filing of a bar complaint and subsequent investigation.”

Conway is currently licensed in New Jersey, where she’s somehow maintained good standing, but her D.C. license has been suspended for failure to pay her dues. So maybe she’ll see this as a way to save her money to buy more bleach. The White House has not yet responded to the news of these ethics complaints, we’re sure that when someone does, it will be in a measured and factual statement.
