UPDATED 9:50PM: According to the Detroit News, Populux will shut down for "at least a week." The owners have filed complaints with the FBI and the Wayne County internet crimes task force in hopes that they can track down who sent out the racist tweets on their account Thursday. The venue's Twitter and Facebook accounts are down as well.

UPDATED 4:30PM: In the wake of intense backlash, Populux has taken to their social media accounts with a much more extensive and descriptive apology. "The tweets, political views and hate messaging that were posted to our Twitter account in the last 24 hours in no way represents our feelings, outlook, or political positions," the statement begins. "This morning we woke to find unauthorized posts. We removed one, and later discovered a re-tweet, which was not immediately visible to us when we logged in." The re-tweet they mention is likely referencing a retweet by the Populux account of former Congressman Joe Walsh who wrote, "You did this Obama. You did this liberals. You did this #BLM." Populux also takes the opportunity to voice their support. "We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement." You can read the venue's full statement below.

Vic Mensa has canceled a planned performance at Populux, a venue in Detroit, Michigan, after the club tweeted out a series of racist comments on Thursday.

"blameobama all you libtards caused these deaths. #dallasshooting #fuckblacklivesmatter," the account tweeted with a picture of Birdman on a hot sauce bottle and the words, "Put some Respeck on it."

"Will not be performing at @PopuluxDetroit on #BackWithAVengeance due to the racist comments they tweeted yesterday," Vic announced on Twitter. Other users followed suit with industry vet Jamilio responding, "Going to reach out to all my colleagues to pull their shows from there also."

Populux has since deleted the tweets and apologized on their Twitter claiming to have been hacked at the time the insensitive and unbelievably distasteful tweets were sent. "We sincerely apologize about the views expressed in some tweets that went out last night. Our account was hacked." The venue shared a similar apology on their Facebook page where one user commented what many are probably thinking. "Why the fuck would someone hack a concert venue's twitter account?"

Populux's original tweets arrived following Thursday night's Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas where 12 police officers and two civilians were shot. Five of the officers were killed, while seven of the officers and the two civilians were injured during the shooting. The Black Lives Matter protest follows a week of tragic chaos after Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were both killed by police.

Following his original tweet, Vic took to Twitter once again to express where his head is at in the wake of this week's tragedy. "STOP KILLING INNOCENT COPS. THATS NOT THE ANSWER. WE WANT ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE CRIMINALS AMONGST THEM. LETS ORGANIZE."

We reached out to Vic Mensa's rep and Populux for comment and will update when available.
