2 sought in golf club attack on car in Forks Township

Forks Township police were looking for two males who fled after a car was vandalized with a golf club Friday afternoon.

It was reported about 3:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Destiny Lane.

The iron was used to smash out the driver's side rear window and entire windshield, and to strike the roof, township police Cpl. Shawn Hummer said.

They fled when a homeowner gave chase, with one getting behind the wheel and leaving his friend behind brandishing the golf club, before coming back to get him, police said.

"The homeowner was there and watched it all," Hummer said.

There was no altercation prior to the incident or any motive that was immediately clear, according to police.

"It doesn't appear that they tried to get in and take anything," Hummer said.

The pair fled in a dark charcoal-colored Toyota SUV with a Pennsylvania registration that came back to an owner in Allentown, according to police. Police did not have a complete description of the perpetrators to immediately release.

Investigators did not believe the incident was linked to windows smashed on vehicles last weekend in the Penns Ridge development in Forks Township or a window-smashing and theft Monday outside a business off 25th Street in Palmer Township.

Police asked anyone with information on the perpetrators to call Forks Township police through the Northampton County 911 non-emergency line at 610-759-2200.
