AMATEUR riders from around Cebu scramble for supremacy as the Alliance of Mountain Trekkers and Adventures (AMPA) hosts the AMPA Mountain Bike Challenge today starting at 8:30 a.m. in Tres de Mayo, Minglanilla.

AMPA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Victor Merto said they are expecting around 60 racers in today’s grueling event.

“Estimate is around 60 participants. We would like to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among bikers around Cebu.

We’ve been organizing races for the past five years now,” said Merto.

Cebuano cyclist Jun Duron will be joining today’s race as part of his preparations for a bigger tournament in Danao next month.

“Mayta puhon maka-podium ko kay para malipay pud ang nag-sponsor nako. Nagpasalamat ko nga nag-sponsor sila kay daghan og issue before ang akong bike,” said Duron, who was recently given a new bike courtesy of Rapidino.
