Storm Clodagh has recently been slamming the UK with wind gusts as high as 79 miles per hour, causing mass power outages and serious damage all across the region. For the pilot of this Airbus A320, the violent winds ultimately proved too strong to stick a dicey landing at Manchester Airport. Simon Whittaker, a former pilot himself, shared the anxiety-inducing footage on Facebook alongside the caption "Monarch A320 drifts off the centre line in cross winds at Manchester Airport and goes around," later revealing to BBC News that the weather was "absolutely treacherous" but the pilot remained in control of the plane throughout the incident.

Five planes were ultimately diverted from Manchester Airport on Sunday due to weather, with a spokesperson confirming that three were diverted to East Midlands and two others were sent to Birmingham. "As forecast, impacts were most severe in the Republic of Ireland as gusts of more than 70 mph leaving 3,500 people without electricity,” the Met Office said in a statement. "The strong winds caused transport disruption and cancelations with fallen trees blocking roads and railway lines in the North of England and several cancelations across Scotland."

Though the call for unanimous praise should be obvious, let's give it up for this pilot and the entire crew.
