Deadline reports that the graphic novel, which of course was made into a 2001 film starring Johnny Depp, Heather Graham and Ian Holm, will be adapted by David Arata, a writer who has worked on films such as Children of Men and Brokedown Palace. Don Murphy, one of the producers of the film, will executive-produce what the site refers to as a “mini.”
Presumably this means that FX is taking a similar approach with From Hell as the network did with Fargo, which ran just 10 episodes -- and to great acclaim -- earlier this year. “When the current resurgence of event series started,” says Deadline. “Murphy thought that would be a great way to handle the material properly, giving the story time to play out and doing it justice.”
Why Fargo Works So Well as a TV Show
No matter how much time the story is given to play out, Alan Moore will certainly hate the end result. Talk to Senior Editor Scott Collura on Twitter at @ScottIGN, on IGN at scottcollura and on Facebook.
