As you may know, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is the owner of over 20 Papa John's pizza franchises in the state of Colorado. Back in 2012, just as the state was on the verge of legalizing marijuana, Manning made the savvy business decision to purchase 21 locations in the area. Since then, he's boosted his presence to 25 franchises, making him something of a minor pizza magnate.

Today, in an interview published on Sports Illustrated's Monday Morning Quarterback, Manning revealed that business has been booming for his pizza ventures. And what does he credit? Colorado's unique legislative climate. Says Manning:

There’s some different laws out here in Colorado. Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes. So when you come to a different place, you’ve kind of got to learn everything that comes with it.

The bit about "recent law changes" is basically a dead giveaway that Manning is talking about the state's lenient marijuana policy. Of course, Manning is too media-trained by now to outright credit pot as the reason for his success. But we all know what he's talking about in this quote. You can basically hear the laughter Manning is trying to stifle as he says this.

There's a handful of other gems you can take from Manning's interview, though. He talks about his golf game (he once shot a 72 at St. Andrews) and whether he believes young quarterbacks should be thrown into the fire from the beginning of their careers (spoiler alert: he does), among other topics. Read the entire conversation between him and SI's Peter King here.
