What did you see when you looked into the dying eyes of Jon Snow?

Depending on who you are, you saw a whole lot, or nothing at all. Either way, it's been a hot-button topic around these parts, ever since I wrote about how Jon's eyes change colors in the final scene of "Game of Thrones" season five. Many of you came out of the woodwork and verified that I'm not crazy — or, at least, I'm not alone.

You saw it yourself: Jon's eyes change.

YEP. I KNOW.

Lea sums up exactly how I felt after I started hearing from people who saw what I saw. I didn't see his eyes turn purple, but I definitely saw a change, and so did many of you.

So, we agree that Jon's eyes changed… but unfortunately, the change might not be good news.

It gets worse: Brienne of Tarth herself reached out to me to throw in her lot with the "dilation = death" crowd.

After hearing from Brienne and everyone else who said Jon's eyes only confirm his death, I started feeling a little bummed out.

But then came Mil, who agreed with the people saying Jon's eyes were dilating due to his death, but remained optimistic about his return.

So, maybe the eyes are a misdirect. That doesn't mean Jon's out of the picture forever, right? How else might he return? Plenty of people are still backing the Ghost theories.

Some of the Ghost theorists think we shouldn't be looking at Jon's eyes, but at his blood instead.

Food for thought, if you buy into R+L=J. Speaking of the Targaryens, what if Jon's resurrection has something in common with a certain Khaleesi?

Maybe there's something to Jon's eyes after all… maybe it's his brother Bran paying him a visit?

And what if Jon returns as someone other than himself — in the form of his worst enemy?

Speaking of zombies, there's a "Walking Dead" argument for why Jon's death feels temporary.

I'll cast my lot in with you, Phillip and Alan. There are some characters that just can't or shouldn't be killed off for the good of the story — at least not until much closer to the story's conclusion. I really think Jon falls under that umbrella. As much as we loved Ned, Catelyn and Robb Stark, they weren't essential to the overarching story of "Game of Thrones," which is certainly shaping up to involve the White Walker conflict, the rise of dragons in the east, and the intersection of the two things. Jon is that intersection, especially if you buy into his secret Targaryen lineage.

So, maybe Jon's eyes really are just dilating due to death. Maybe there's something else going on there, too. Who knows? All I know right now is that there are plenty of reasons to bring Jon back into the mix, not to mention ways to do it — and fewer reasons to keep him dead. We'll see who's right when season six premieres next year. In the meantime, thanks for playing along, and keep those theories coming.
