Meanwhile, on Twitter…

Aaron Carter, he of Hilary Duff devotion and "Aaron's Party" fame, tweeted out something on Sunday that is so bizarre, it will take you a few moments to wrap your head around it.

In a now-deleted tweet, the 27-year-old singer basically compared himself to the late king of pop, Michael Jackson.

"Remember one very important thing. Michael passed down the torch to me," he wrote above a black and white photo of Michael Jackson. "I never had to ask for him to do that."

Huh?!

Obviously, the backlash on Twitter was swift and unrelenting as soon as that tweet went live. Carter continued to write about his connection to MJ, which honestly just confused the masses even more. He's been spending his Sunday evening defending his comments and calling people bullies for questioning the MJ comparison.

"So now.... It's time. In [a lot of] different ways I need to grow and be the best man I can be and my love is pure it started just as young as MJ and that's why we both connected because we really were and still [are] the only ones of our kind," he wrote in a series of tweets.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users are having a field day with Carter's delusions of grandeur:

According to Carter's own tweets, he is working on new music. At the very least, Carter can say he's done one thing that MJ never did: appear on a cooking show that also starred Coolio and Joey Fatone.
