It has been said that innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. As one of the oldest Swiss watchmakers, FORTIS have been a pristine example of this craft since it was first conceived in 1912. Aged 29, Walter Vogt knew that to succeed in such a competitive and fast growing industry he would have to find a way to disrupt the status quo.

Operating out of the small Swiss village of Grenchen, Vogt saw that wristwatches were quickly becoming a worldwide trend. Equipped with his newly built factory, his vision was to produce reliable, top quality wristwatches for the international market.

The ever-increasing pace of daily life in the 1920s demanded a new era of time management. The HARWOOD Automatic, the world’s first mass-produced automatic wristwatch, was born, laying the foundation for a hundred years of innovation.

Milestones include a plastic watch that was 200m water resistant, becoming the office timekeeper to the Russian Federal Space Agency as well as the go-to watchmaker for over 60 flight squadrons worldwide.

This is your chance to buy into that heritage. AskMen has teamed up with
