911 call: Father says intruders shot his daughter while he slept upstairs

WINSLOW TWP. -- The father of the woman shot to death in her home early Sunday told a 911 dispatcher that two men broke into their home and shot her before fleeing.

"I was upstairs, I was asleep. I heard two gunshots. My daughter is on the floor," Anthony Scordo Jr. said in the 911 call around 4 a.m.

"My daughter screamed and I got out of bed, I thought I was dreaming, but I wasn't," he said.

Deanna Marie Scordo, 45, was shot multiple times in the farmhouse at 715 Bairdmore Ave., a quiet, rural road near the Atlantic County line. The Camden County prosecutor's office said that emergency responders tried to save her, but she died at the scene.

Anthony Scordo told the 911 dispatcher that after he got out of bed, he saw two figures wearing black hooded sweatshirts fleeing the home on foot. He said he believed they were male but couldn't tell any other identifying characteristics.

No arrests have been made.

According to her obituary, Deanna Scordo worked as the administrator of a Spectrum Rehabilitation, which offered speech, occupational and physical therapy.

Nicknamed "DD," she loved her friends and family, and her life "revolved around" her nieces and nephew, the obituary said. She also had great sense of humor and was a sports fan.

A relative reached Tuesday said the family does not wish to comment for this story.

Her former classmates from Edgewood Regional High School posted her name and condolences on Facebook over the last two days, saying it was to offer support to her family and friends.

Her funeral will be held Friday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Hammonton.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact prosecutor's office Detective Chris Sarson at 856-225-8640 or Winslow Police Detective Nick Arnold at 609-561-3300.
