Last week we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the BBC going online with a couple of panel discussions at the Radio Theatre in New Broadcasting House.

The first of these looked at some of the key moments in the history of the BBC on the web, chaired by Director of BBC Future Media Ralph Rivera. The panellists were George Auckland, who helped set up the BBC Networking Club, Mike Smartt, the first editor of BBC News Online and Ben Lavender, one of the inventors of the BBC iPlayer.

The second panel session was a wider look at the past, present and future of the web, chaired by technology author and broadcaster Aleks Krotoski. The panellists were Martha Lane Fox, founder of Lastminute.com and chair of Go On UK, John Naughton, technology columnist for the Observer and JP Rangaswami, Chief Scientist at Salesforce.
