POLICE have begun a full-scale search of a Huntingdale home that was owned at the time of the Claremont serial killings two decades ago by the man now charged with two of the murders.

Forensic officers were in the backyard of the Fountain Way property on Wednesday using ground-probing equipment to check below the surface of a large area of lawn.

Other officers worked inside the property.

Landgate records show that Telstra technician Bradley Robert Edwards sold the property in April 1997, just weeks after Ciara Glennon disappeared from Claremont.

Mr Edwards, 48, has been charged with the murders of Ms Glennon, 27, and Jane Rimmer, 23, whose bodies were recovered.

But he has not been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Sarah Spiers whose remains have not been found.

Police refused to comment about the search yesterday.

It is understood they are looking for any signs that a body may have been buried at the property, along with any personal items owned by Ms Rimmer and Ms Glennon that were missing when their bodies were found.

The inside of the property is also likely to be tested with a blood-detecting chemical.

Neighbours Dean and Nicky said officers removed furniture and other items from inside the home. The contents were taken away on a truck.

“It looked like they were moving out the tenants who live at the home. They’re an older couple,” Dean said.

He also saw a police helicopter hovering over the home for several minutes on Tuesday.

“It was so low I could see the pilot and our windows shook. I don’t know if they were taking photographs of the property,” Dean said.

Mr Edwards was arrested on December 22 at a home in Acton Avenue in Kewdale which he bought in March 2000 with his current partner.

Since his arrest, police have conducted similar searches at other homes connected to Mr Edwards.

A white Commodore station wagon believed to have been a work car driven by Mr Edwards at the time of the murders has also been seized and forensically tested.
