Jason Alexander’s “modern-day Partridge Family” gets straight-to-series order

Jason Alexander continues to enjoy the success that eluded his Seinfeld character, as Deadline reports that the erstwhile George Costanza has just picked up a straight-to-series order for his new comedy. Audience Network wants a full 10 episodes of Hit The Road, a show about a family band that’s full of disharmony. We assume that will be the log line based off this description: a “dysfunctional family of would-be rock/pop stars traverse the country in a cramped tour bus sacrificing privacy, comfort and dignity while in search of fame and fortune.” It’s also referred to as a “modern-day Patridge Family,” which helps the names make more sense: Alexander will play Ken Swallow, the head of the Swallow family.

Alexander, who co-created Hit The Road with Peter Tilden and Dean Craig, says he’s psyched about bringing a “funny, fearless, chaotic musical family to life,” completely ignoring just how melodious the conversation was among his other TV family. The series joins Peter Farrelly and Bobby Mort Loudermilk in Audience Network’s slate of scripted half-hour comedies.
