It’s not a great day to be an Alabama football fan.

One commenter on an Alabama football message board is concerned because freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is from Hawaii, and “Chattown Tider” is worried about a potential language barrier.

Apparently he’s unaware that English is spoken in Hawaii, just like everywhere else in America.

He wrote the following:

I haven’t heard it mention, so I thought I would address the elephant in the room. He seems like a smart kid, so I’m wandering how his transition to the states has been as far as communication goes? Are we doing anything different like special playbooks or relying on signals more when he’s in the game? I thought I saw him point to receivers a couple of times and defenses might catch on if he’s pointing to who he’s going to throw the ball to. The only time I’ve been out of the country is when I was shipped to Nam and I was as confused as a yankee learning to square dance.

A tweet from Sports Illustrated writer Ben Reiter highlighting the message board posting has since gone viral.

Not the greatest look for Alabama football fans. Pretty sure any three-year-old on this planet knows that English is spoken in America, and Hawaii is part of the USA.

Alabama fans are the target of plenty of jokes. Some are deserved, some aren’t, but the jokes spawned from this are absolutely deserved. How can you possibly be a grown adult with internet access and not know that Hawaii is part of the same country as Alabama and the people speak the exact same language? Embarrassing to say the least.

Roll tide Roll!
