The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard were both recognized by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences’ upcoming 19th annual Webby Awards.
THR.com was selected as an honoree in the category of best magazine website, the second year in a row THR‘s website has received this honor.
Billboard‘s Real-Time Social Charts were also nominated in the category “social: experimental & innovation.”
Vice Media topped this year’s Webby Award nominees with 17 nominations. Other companies with strong showings include CollegeHumor with nine nominations, Funny or Die and HBO with eight nominations apiece, The Guardian with seven nominations, and Comedy Central and Mashable tied with six nominations. This year’s Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 60 countries worldwide. Less than 8 percent of this year’s entries were selected as nominees.
All of this year’s nominees are up for Webby Awards, which will be handed out on May 18. Additionally, the nominees in each category can also win the People’s Voice award, determined by votes from the online community. Notable entries not selected as winners or nominees are recognized as honorees. Nominees and honorees receive a framed certificate and badge for their websites.
THR.com was honored in the category of best magazine website along with HarpersBazaar.com, Forbes.com, DuJour Media’s website, Danish™, Vogue Spain and Good Magazine.
Billboard‘s social charts face off against Mall of America’s #Twizzard, The Good Day Blimp Project, AKQA’s Destiny Selfie and FRED & FARID Paris’ The Antifoot Can.
THR was named as a magazine honoree last year, when its awards season roundtables were also nominated for the entertainment (channel) category.
Billboard launched its Real-Time Social Charts via a partnership with Twitter last year. The charts track U.S. music conversations among the millions of tweets sent each day and reflect the top tracks being discussed.

Public voting runs through April 23. Winners will be honored in a May 18 ceremony hosted by Hannibal Buress at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street. A stream of the award show will be available the next day on the Webby Awards website.
THR‘s Webby honor comes after it won the prestigious National Magazine Award for General Excellence in February.
THR‘s website recorded its best month ever in February, with a record 19.8 million uniques worldwide, an increase of more than 40 percent, according to comScore (February 2014 through February 2015).
