Joakim Noah is already out for the season after undergoing surgery to repair his dislocated left shoulder. Pau Gasol is still dealing with a hand issue and deemed day-to-day. Mike Dunleavy may return to action soon. Nikola Mirotic is recovering from an appendectomy and isn't expected back until after the All-Star break.
Needless to say, the Chicago Bulls couldn't afford to have another player go down with an injury. But that's exactly what happened on Friday when Jimmy Butler took a hard fall late in the second quarter of last night's game against the Denver Nuggets.
Before going to the locker room, Butler got out of the wheelchair, limped his way to the free throw line and took his two attempts, making one out of two.
Then, Butler was whisked away to the back.
According to ESPNChicago.com beat writer Nick Friedell, Rose said Butler mentioned that he "heard a pop in his knee," which, um, doesn't sound good at all. However, initial reports are saying that the Bulls star shooting guard suffered a sprained knee.
Butler is scheduled to undergo an MRI Saturday morning.
