Mark your calendars — Benedict Cumberbatch‘s starring stage turn in Hamlet is coming to the big screen.
A broadcast of the Imitation Game actor’s leading role in Lyndsey Turner‘s staging of the Shakespeare classic will screen internationally on Oct. 15, Sonia Friedman Productions and National Theatre Live announced Friday. Tickets go on sale March 16, with dates varying at venues and encore screenings to follow.
Hamlet begins previews at London’s Barbican Theatre on Aug. 5, ahead of its Aug. 25 opening. The limited engagement runs through Oct. 31.
Also featured in the National Theatre Live lineup are David Hare‘s Behind the Beautiful Forevers, directed by Rufus Norris; Arthur Miller‘s A View From the Bridge, starring Mark Strong; Tom Stoppard‘s The Hard Problem; Bernard Shaw‘s Man and Superman, starring Ralph Fiennes; and Carol Ann Duffy‘s adaptation of Everyman, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Recent National Theatre Live broadcasts have included the James Franco–Chris O’Dowd starrer Of Mice and Men, (the series’ first Broadway production); the award-winning original West End production of War Horse; NT’s 50th anniversary celebration Live From the National Theatre: 50 Years on Stage; Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle; Rory Kinnear in Hamlet; and Adrian Lester and Kinnear in Shakespeare’s Othello, among others.
