Victor Revill and Megan Garcia

Two Birmingham lawyers were arrested Thursday in Blount County.
Victor Revill, owner of Revill Law Firm, and Megan Garcia, one of his associates, were taken into custody by the Blount County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning.
Sheriff's Operations Officer Tim Kent said the pair was arrested when sheriff's investigator Sgt. Sue Ashworth was trying to serve a search warrant on a suspect.
Revill and Garcia are charged with obstructing a governmental operation and refusal to permit inspection of property subject to a search warrant. Both are misdemeanors.
The pair was released from the Blount County Correctional Facility Thursday afternoon after posting $3,000 bond each. Kent said he could not release details of what led to the arrests because the investigation is ongoing.
Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said this: "The officers were seeking evidence pursuant to a lawful search warrant. This case involves a child sex abuse case and pornography. We will have no further comment at this time. It is an ongoing investigation."
According to the law firm's website, Revill and Garcia are criminal defense and civil rights attorneys. Attorney Thomas Putnam with The Revill Law Firm released this statement to AL.com: "We have a tremendous amount of respect for the Blount County District Attorneys Office, and I'm not going to say anything that is going to make their job any harder than it already is. However, I will say that we here at the Revill Law Firm are committed to protecting clients and upholding their rights. The attorneys did nothing more than assert their civil rights. We have an ethical obligation to uphold the law. We are a civil rights firm. If we have to go to jail to prevent injustice, so be it. However, I think we can all agree that no one should be in the business of arresting attorneys for doing their job."
