Alex Jones Interview Won't Air on NBC Connecticut: Reports

BREAKING: Connecticut's NBC station will not broadcast the controversial interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Amid mounting pressure and a potential lawsuit, NBC Connecticut has decided not to air Megyn Kelly's interview with notorious Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, according to multiple reports including the Associated Press via the New Haven Register. In a memo, NBC Connecticut staffers were told the interview would not air because the "wounds are understandably still so raw," according to the report.

The Hartford Courant reports that those who wish to watch the interview can still do so online. The paper further reported Friday that Neil Heslin, who's son Jesse was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, will also be interviewed as part of Sunday's edition of "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly."

NBC News will still move forward with the interview, reports the Associated Press.

CNN reported Friday that the families of 12 Sandy Hook victims have threatened legal action against NBC News if the network moves forward with the interview.Lawyers from the firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder wrote that the interview "implicitly endorses the notion that Mr. Jones' lies are actually 'claims' that are worthy of serious debate; and in doing so it exponentially enhances the suffering and distress of our clients," according to CNN's report.

The public relations calamity for the network began Sunday when a teaser for the interview was aired. Shortly following intense backlash, J.P. Morgan pulled its local TV and digital ads from NBC until after the interview airs.

Furthermore, Jones himself released a personal recording of pre-interview discussions with Kelly. In what he called an effort to highlight "corporate media's lies," Jones said Kelly mislead him to believe that the many controversies that made him infamous would not be the focus of the interview.

In a statement Friday, the network doubled down on its commitment to the interview despite the leaks.

The interview is set to air Sunday at 7 p.m.
