Poll finds Jeremy Corbyn is less popular than Donald Trump
Jeremy Corbyn is less popular among British voters than Donald Trump, a new poll has revealed.
Only 17 per cent of voters approve of the Labour leader's performance, while 18 per cent believe the American President is doing a good job.
A total of 46 per cent of voters said they approved of Theresa May's performance as Prime Minister in a survey by pollsters GfK, with just 33 per cent disagreed.
The poll of 1,938 adults also found that 46 per cent think Britain was right to vote for Brexit, while 41 per cent disagreed.
GfK research director Keiran Pedley said: "Whilst Donald Trump’s approval rating among British adults will be the least of the president’s worries following his healthcare struggles last week, it will be of great concern to Labour supporters that Jeremy Corbyn’s approval rating among Brits is no better.
"With Theresa May clearly more popular than the Government as a whole and the Conservatives significantly ahead in the polls, it looks like Labour is a long way from power."
It came as leaked Labour documents revealed the party have lost 10,850 members over the last four weeks,
Thousands of members have chosen not to renew their subscription to the party and hundreds have resigned- citing Labour's approach to Brexit as the main reason.
A leaked internal analysis published in The Times showed 6,450 members left just last week.
"About 60 per cent of these people joined to take part in the 2016 leadership election and immediately went into arrears," the report said.
"The other 40 per cent joined to take part in the 2015 leadership election and didn’t renew their membership after the first year.”
A Labour spokesman said: “We don’t comment on membership numbers.”
