The food is on... pretty much rain or shine.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The forecast for this spring in the way of Staten Island festivals: There is good chance for "chili" weather and certainly meatballs. And, the bonus of borough strolls and outdoor fetes is that history says they happen whether it's rainy, sunny or severely windy. So, let's have a look-see as to what food and drink to expect!

1: All of April is Autism Awareness
When: April
What: April is Autism Awareness month, which means a handful of restaurants are pushing hard for the cause all month long, some into May as well. Here is a handy, official list of those establishments participating.
Where: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island and Vegas
Who: Eden II is orchestrating the effort and proceeds go toward the not-for-profits programming

2: Forest Avenue Restaurant Crawl and Street Festival
When: Sunday, May 7 from 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: From Bard Avenue to Hart Boulevard, West Brighton
What: Rides, attractions and music for a family-friendly food fete for ticket-holders only.
Who: Forest Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) along with Councilwoman Debi Rose and The Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC)
Cost: It's $15 per guest when tickets are purchased online at EventBrite.com. Tickets are $20 on the day of the festival.

3. BBQ Cookoff
When: Saturday, April 8 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Historic Richmond Town at 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond
What: Sampling event with food and beverage for sale
Cost: Adults are $12.75 and kids $6 if tickets are purchased in advance online at HistoricRichmondTown.org. Or, pay at the door where adults are $15, kids are $8.

4: Chili Cookoff
When: Saturday, April 22 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Historic Richmond Town
What: Sampling event with beer and food for sale featuring an International Chili Society's officially sanctioned event
Cost: Adults are $12.75 and kids $6 if tickets are purchased in advance online at HistoricRichmondTown.org. Or, pay at the door where adults are $15, kids are $8.

5: North Shore Restaurant Crawl
When: Sunday, April 23, same date as the TransAlt Tour de Staten Island and goings on at Flagship Brewery (see the last slide)
What: Sampling event intended to showcase paritipating North Shore restaurants
Who: North Shore Business Alliance is the sponsor

6: Victory Boulevard Restaurant Stroll
When: Saturday, April 30 from noon to 3 p.m.
What: Restaurants roll out a tasting menu. Pariticpating places include Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe, Cake Chef, Cool Ice, Island Grocery, Goodfella's Pizza & Restaurant, Met Foods, Noodle Fan, Pi Pizzeria, Schaffer's Tavern, Sogogoogo Sushi, Staten Island Diner, The Beer Garden, Venga Mexican Grill, Waterfall's Restaurant and Castleton Corners Pub
Who: This Victory Blvd. Merchants Association event is sponsored in conjunction with Borough President James Oddo and Councilman Steven Matteo's offices
Where: Victory Boulevard in Westerleigh with the hub at Alfonso's Bakery

7: Dine Out Against Hunger
When: Thursday, April 27
What: Over 140 participating restaurants will donate 20 percent of the day's gross receipts to Project Hospitality in the not-for-profit's largest annual fundraiser to combat hunger on Staten Island

What: A celebration and congregation of the United States armed forces. This year's theme commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Seabees.

10: Uncorked!
When: Saturday, June 4 from noon to 4 p.m. although tastings wind down around 3 p.m.
Where: Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond
Why: Typically a sprawling collection of restaurants offering tastes of food with wine available for the sampling and purchase, billed as a family-friendly event
Cost: Tickets are $34 online for adults and $12 for kids at HistoricRichmondTown.org. At the door, tickets are $40 and kids are $15.
