The red carpet for the L.A. premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 may have been drastically scaled back last night, but the party certainly wasn't.

Lionsgate, the studio behind the hit franchise, announced on Sunday that the cast would not be doing any interviews on the carpet because of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

They did, however, pose for photographers and take selfies with fans at the Samsung VIP viewing deck before making a brief appearance on stage at the Microsoft Theater before the screening, which ran late by almost an hour.

The after-party took place under a tent on the roof of a nearby parking garage.

The hundreds of guests were greeted by men banging large drums and a huge sculpture of the movie's signature two-finger salute. Smoke machines helped set the mood as did the large photo of President Snow's mansion that was projected on the front of the tent.

Inside, a gaggle of men and women were dressed as fabulous residents of the Capitol. The menu included mini chicken potpies, ravioli and chopped salads. Dessert stations proved to be the most popular with people waiting in long lines for the chance to devour chocolate cookies, lemon parfaits and apple cider doughnut holes.

Arrangements of red and white roses were scattered throughout the bash.

Music wasn't exactly inspired by The Hunger Games. Instead, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift hits were blasted from the speakers.

As for the film's stars, I spotted Josh Hutcherson and Natalie Dormer in the VIP section. Donald Sutherland also made his way through the crowd with a small entourage. Either Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth did a great job hiding inside the party or they were no-shows.

The cast continues promoting the last installment of the four-movie franchise with a premiere on Wednesday in New York City.
