Nearly two dozen people were injured this morning when two NJ Transit buses collided in the center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel, a Port Authority police spokesman said this morning.

The two vehicles were traveling eastbound at 8:50 a.m. when the crash occurred, said Joe Pentanagelo, spokeman for the department that patrols the New Jersey-New York crossings.

A total of 23 people suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, Pentangelo said. According to 511nj.org, the New Jersey Department of Transportation traffic website, all lanes in the center tube of the tunnel are closed.

The accident has caused delays of nearly two hours on the New Jersey side, Pentangelo said.
