For all Benedict Cumberbatch fans that believe the actor’s looks are good enough to eat, their wish has been granted.
With the launch of the new drama channel on UKTV’s on-demand service, UKTV Play, a life-size chocolate sculpture of Cumberbatch was created for public display on the upcoming Good Friday, The Telegraph reported.
Two thousand people were polled to find out “Britain’s Dishiest Dramatic Actor,” with Cumberbatch beating out fellow actors David Tennant, Sean Bean and Damian Lewis to be replicated into a chocolaty figure.
Eight people dedicated themselves to the creation of the 40kg (88 lbs.) hollow sculpture, which required 500 bars of melted Belgian chocolate and took 250 hours to complete.
“The striking thing about Benedict is he’s got quite a thin face, but quite a large head, so trying to get that look right is quite tricky,” chocolate sculptor Tim Simpson said.
The team poured molten chocolate into a food-safe mold to create individual sections of his body that they assembled together.
“Chocobatch” will be on display at Westfield Stratford City on April 3. UKTV staff will be on hand to monitor the statue and are expecting fans to ask for a nibble of the chocolate figure.
“I’ve got a feeling that some women are going to take a look at him and decide that he’s delicious in more than one way,” Simpson said.
