Harrison Ford Surprises 'Star Wars' Fans On Skype

Trending News: Watch Harrison Ford Freak Out 'Star Wars' Fans On Skype

Why Is This Important?

Because it's nice to see stars give back for a good cause.

Long Story Short

As part of Omaze's new charity campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford hopped on skype to surprise some fans. The resulting freakout was exactly what you'd expect.

Long Story

What would you give for the chance to meet your favorite movie star, musician or professional athlete? Would you give, say, $15 to a charitable organization? That's the idea behind Omaze, a nonprofit that collects donations for charitable causes, and in return a few lucky winners get once in a lifetime experiences. Their latest campaign give people a chance to walk the red carpet and meet the cast at the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so to help promote it they enlisted a guy you might recognize to talk to fans on Skype:

Yep, that's Harrison Ford (and his earring), AKA Han Solo himself popping up unexpectedly, causing fans to cheese and cream their jeans. Highlights include: Ford telling a lady she could "do better" when he asks if a picture she has of Chewbacca is her boyfriend; hiding behind a mask of himself from his younger years; and appearing in frame just after a (clearly misguided) fan says her favorite character is Padme.

If rubbing elbows with celebrities at the biggest movie premiere of the year sounds like something you might like to do, you can donate to Omaze's "Star Wars: Force for Change" campaign here. Anything above a $10 donation gets you some bit of exclusive swag, and your chances to win increase with the money you donate. Donate $20,000, for instance, and you'll get 200,000 entries into the contest and a friggin' full-size Stormtrooper suit (update: they're already sold out!). Best of all, you'll support 15 very worthy organizations, from Cancer in Africa to Arts in the Armed Forces to Make-A-Wish.

Just don't argue with Harrison Ford over who shot first.

I'm afraid that if I told Harrison Ford that Han was my favorite character he'd just say "I know."

Drop This Fact

Harrison Ford was cast basically by accident, as he was originally brought in by George Lucas to just feed lines to other auditioning actors.
