Let's get real: the best part about going to uni isn't the lectures, the cooking or even the clubbing, but being able to live with your mates and move out of home for the first time.

Which is why student halls are so important. No, they don't have to be the fanciest or even the cleanest, but ideally the perfect balance of value for money, location, hall management, social space, social experience, and internet/WiFi.

Thanks to StudentCrowd, who pulled together a definitive ranking of the 50 best halls in the UK in 2018, we now have an idea of which student residence are the best based on exactly that.

They asked students from every university across the country to rate their halls, and after receiving over 7,800 replies, ranked them based on which received the highest score in each category out of five.
