Kid Rock will step in and play the concert that will launch the GOP convention after Joe Walsh from the “Eagles” canceled.
The summer concert in Cleveland — that will benefit veterans — will now feature Kid Rock instead of the Eagles guitarist, the Washington Examiner reports.

“It was my understanding that I was playing a concert which was a nonpartisan event to benefit the families of American veterans on Monday, July 18 in Cleveland,” Walsh said in a statement. “Today it was announced that this event is, in fact, a launch for the Republican National Convention.”
Walsh went on to say learning that his name would be used to raise sponsorship money for “convention related purposes,” and given the current climate of the party’s presidential race he could not in good conscience “endorse the Republican party in any way.”
Event planners say the concert that will benefit several non-profit veterans organizations is not connected to the RNC and they will hold similar events near the Democratic National Convention, the Examiner added.
