As emcee of the iHeartRadio Awards on Sunday, Jamie Foxx made mention of the recent “Blurred Lines” lawsuit verdict.
Taking a scan around the room as he opened the live show, Foxx noted that he was in the presence of some legendary acts.
“Give it up for the legends tonight — Marvin Gaye! Marvin Gaye had an incredible year this year,” the comedian began, adding that Gaye had a No. 1 hit featuring Robin Thicke and Pharrell.
“Marvin Gaye made $7.4 million dollars just last week. He’s making beats in heaven, it’s crazy,” he continued. “He might be dead, but he ain’t dead broke.”
On March 10, Thicke and Pharrell were ordered to pay $7.4 million to the Gaye family for infringing on the 1977 song “Got to Give It Up.”
