Carpool Karaoke: Britney Spears, James Corden sing Hit Me Baby One More Time

This week in Carpool Karaoke news: Brit happens.

On Thursday’s edition of The Late Late Show, Britney Spears became the latest bestselling pop star to take a musical ride with James Corden. The singer — who is performing at the VMAs on Sunday and dropping a new album, Glory, at this very moment — revisited all her hits featuring ellipses in the title as well as a few without any punctuation (though she seemed a little shy about the singing part), talked relationships and tickling fetishes, and even played dress-up to recreate one of her classic videos.

Corden stumped her at the very beginning of the segment when he asked her the meaning of “Oops!… I Did it Again.” “I don’t know,” she answered. “I really don’t know. I think it’s just a song.” Not to Corden, who revealed that it was his anthem of regret when he orders Domino’s pizza.

After cruising through that tune, Spears discussed her interest in having three more kids, her desire not to get married again (but she’s totally open to French kissing), and her penchant for using such hotel aliases as Anita Dick.

“Womanizer,” “Make Me,” and “Toxic” were also on the setlist, with Spears appearing to do more lip-syncing than singing at times. For the final track, she and Corden hopped in the wayback machine to 1998 and reenacted the video for “…Baby One More Time,” complete with the pair in gray cardigans and knot-tied white button-down shirts, and Corden going the extra mile by rocking pigtails.
