Nick Saban dishes on Kendall Sheffield's status, Jamey Mosley's scholarship

Alabama coach Nick Saban addressed the media following practice Tuesday. The main topic du jour was defensive back Kendall Sheffield's status with the team.

Sheffield, a former five-star recruit from Missouri City, Texas, has not been present at the last three practices -- the two sessions Monday and the afternoon workout Tuesday.

--Nick Saban didn't believe the players played with the "effort" he wanted during the scrimmage Saturday.

--Nick Saban confirmed walk-on linebacker Jamey Mosley earned a scholarship.

--Saban said he doesn't "know what the status is" for defensive back Kendall Sheffield. He also indicated that he would welcome Sheffield back to the program.

--Saban is reiterating that an "outcome-oriented" perspective creates "anxiety." Cited a New York Times story to deliver the point. He wants players to focus on the immediate play.

--Saban said Kendall Sheffield was in the "mix" to be in the two-deep rotation at cornerback.

--Saban said Jamey Mosley" "earned" the scholarship and indicated his teammates let out a roar when the announcement of his changed status was made.

--Saban said he wants "what is best" for the players and has not set a deadline for Sheffield's return.
