It’s time to play the music, because the Muppets are doing live shows

What better time for some felt creations to perform live than during a period when the line between what’s real and what’s completely insane is blurrier than ever? Switch “blurrier” to “furrier” and we’ve just come up with some decent ad copy for the upcoming series of live shows by The Muppets. Pitchfork reports The Muppets Take The Bowl will take place from September 8 through 10 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl, three live performances featuring singing, dancing, comedy sketches, celebrity guests, and more. Basically, it’s all the razzle-dazzle fireworks you got from a normal episode of The Muppet Show, but with the addition of an actual fireworks finale, thanks to Crazy Harry.

Joined by a full orchestra, the shows promise to unveil new installments of beloved sketches like “Pigs In Space,” “Veterinarian’s Hospital,” and “Muppet Labs,” thereby completing the checklist of things you didn’t know you wanted, but definitely do now that you know they’re happening. It’s not the first time Muppets have wandered off camera and onto actual stages: Most recently, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem performed last year at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival. But this is your chance to sit in the audience for a full-on Muppet Show experience. Tickets are on sale now. It promises to be the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational event you’ve ever attended.
