STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The long-awaited opening of the Container Store now has a definite date: Oct.28.
That's when the store -- known for its storage and organization products -- will open its doors in the Staten Island Mall, New Springville, said a Container Store spokeswoman.
Construction is still active on the store that will be located in the 23,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Sears Auto Body.
JOBS ALREADY AVAILABLE
While the Container Store has yet to announce the number of employees it will hire to staff the Staten Island location, there are six positions advertised on its website, including general, visuals and operations managers and in-home decorator.
The Container Store is part of the Mall's ongoing effort to attract new retailers.
"The Container Store is enhancing the mix of existing merchants and joining a list of exciting new merchants," said James Easley, Staten Island Mall senior general manager.
Other recently opened Mall merchants include Shoe Dept. Encore, Chef's Table, Box Lunch and Rolling Cow.
ONGOING CONSTRUCTION
The Mall is undergoing a 240,000-square-foot expansion, that is expected to be complete in 2018.
A 40,000-square-foot Dave & Buster's, along with a new food court featuring 12 new dining options, including Shake Shack, and additional retailers will be the major component of the expansion project.
