There is no Breaking Bad spinoff about Jesse Pinkman. Aaron Paul lied to you. And he's sorry.

Paul teased a big announcement across his social media channels before taking to Periscope to live-broadcast the news that he'd be returning to the Breaking Bad world for a spinoff about his character. That was a lie. Or a joke, if you will.

"I'm going to tell you all some news that I've been dying to tell you for some time," Paul said in his Periscope video. "Listen, there's some super top-secret news that I am so proud to tell all of you. It's very exciting."

The "news" he "revealed" was that a new show would chronicle Jesse Pinkman's new life after he drove off in the Breaking Bad series finale. Fans were delighted. And then mad.

"Sorry for the joke everybody. I love you all so much. Hugs and kisses," he tweeted.

Paul is in Boston filming a new flick with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. To make up for the prank, he invited his more than 2 million Twitter followers to go see the new Mad Max movie with him.

"Mad Max??? Come watch it with me and all of my Boston friends at Regal cinemas near Fenway. 10:40 showing!! Hope you can make it Boston," he said.

But there is hope to see Jesse Pinkman again. Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel starring Bob Odenkirk, will return for a second season and the writers and Paul have been open about having Jesse and Walter White (Bryan Cranston) pop up...someday. As for what happened to Jesse after the finale, creator Vince Gilligan told GQ he thinks Jesse got away.

"But the most likely thing, as negative as this sounds, is that they're going to find this kid's fingerprints all over this lab and they're going to find him within a day or a week or a month," Gilligan told GQ. "And he's still going to be on the hook for the murder of two federal agents. But yeah, even though that's the most likely outcome, the way I see it is that he got away and got to Alaska, changed his name, and had a new life. You want that for the kid. He deserves it."
